To those who are suicidal, but don’t want to die.

This post was inspired by another blog/article I discovered ❤

Enjoy.

Maybe you are tired.

You feel like you are hanging on to an imaginary string that is keeping you alive, yet, you are not living. You are breathing, but not experiencing life in any of the ways that you want to or dream about.

Maybe, you are restless. You can’t keep a job because of your mental illness, money is tight, you might be losing your place as bills pile up, you are fighting with your spouse, and your friends can’t understand how you feel.

So, you think about it.

Death crosses your mind. You think of death like you would a vacation. An escape.

You find yourself fantasizing about a way out.

You get sick of hearing cliche’ quotes and advice about things turning around someday.

You are not alone.

You might not know anyone with your problems, or your mental health disorder, but if you are reading this, just know that there is someone out in the world who feels just like you.

I am not writing this to sugarcoat how you feel. I do, however, want you to say yes.

Say yes to life.

Why, you might ask?

I want you to say yes, because, even though you dream of dying, and you dream of peace on the other side – the reality is that we do not know what lies beyond.

All we know is that we can control what is happening to us right now.

All we know is that we have the power to choose happiness, no matter how bleak the sky might look. No matter how dim your light from within might be. Once we realize our power, and utilize our mind over matter, we just might not want to die.

It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to feel like hell, it’s going to suck, it’s going to hurt, you’re going to scream and cry, and things might feel like they will never get better.

Then you remember that you have a choice.

Am I taking my own advice? Yes, but I would be a liar if I said I don’t know what it is like to be hopeless. I wonder if things will get better in my own life. I battle with the will to live every single day.

Then, I remember that I have a choice. I remember that I have GOD. I remember that I have control over my life. I remember that I have faith. I remember I am still here.

It’s not my time yet.

It’s not your time yet.

Tomorrow includes you. Show up. Get ready for it.

Choose life. Live.

Until next time…

  3. I believe that most people who feel this way, that once they get through that time, they are glad to be alive. With depression and other things, they may go through those thoughts many times, but each time they are glad they didn’t. Keep holding on, keep helping, keep talking to each other.
